Proofreading

Proofreading involves checking your work for potential mistakes and marking up the document with changes which you can review before accepting them. It will usually be done with a document produced in Microsoft Word using the Track Changes feature, but I can also markup PDF documents for you. The document will be checked for things like:

  • Spelling, including consistency of the use of UK or American English

  • Grammar

  • Punctuation

  • Style, including checking consistency against your required house style where applicable

  • Layout, including sentence and paragraph spacing

  • Tables and diagrams, ensuring they are correctly referenced in the text

Where I find issues that need correcting I will make that correction with Track Changes on so you can review. Where it is not clear what you meant I will add comments for you to review and make a decision on whether or not to change the text.
